Up In The Night

Yes, I am up again. I am awake again. I am not sleeping again.

I actually slept pretty good all the nights I worked, so that is a blessing. It's extremely difficult to get up at 4:30 in the morning if you have been up half the night - so I am extremely happy that I don't have to do that in a couple of hours. I really do hate the days that I wake up. I heard a tip the other day about trying to get back to sleep when you wake up. They said count backwards from 100 in increments of three - you will get bored and be back to sleep before you are done. Not me, I laid there and counted - - 100, 97, 94, 91, 88, 85, 82 - - so on, so forth. Made it all the way down. Decided I would get up at that point, because I always know where to find someone to talk to, if I want to, in the middle of the night. So, I got up and started texting my BFF and eventually called her. It's nice to know where someone is always awake.

The thing that woke me up was my dream. I was dreaming it was Rodger and Rustie's wedding. KayeLynn and I were trying to put together little treats for the wedding. They were some homemade candy concoction. We would get some done and out for the guests and they would be gone, so we had to start over. We couldn't keep up. Eventually, I got out to the wedding and was walking with my boss and someone else. The wedding was outside and it was bitter cold. There were these tents set up for people to sell souvenirs of the wedding. The tents had windows so you would just walk up to buy what you wanted. We were trying to find one that sold hot chocolate. The people inside the tents selling stuff had little space heaters and were so cold they were wearing eskimo garb. However, all the wedding guests were just in their nice wedding clothes. Dunno. Trying to figure out the meaning of the dream just tells me I am starting to worry about it; hence, the sequence of not being able to keep up with the demand of the candy.

When my BFF was getting off work, I just got the old laptop out and started playing on the computer. I'll get back to sleep eventually; I'll go climb into my bed, which will be cold again and I'll lay there until I get snuggled and warm and go back to sleep.

Sweet dreams - eventually!!

  1. OMG!! I hope this is not the start of many sleepless nights to come. You have several months until the wedding. Feel free to call me anytime...well, not during the day. LOL.

  2. "It's nice to know where someone is always awake." Truer words have never been spoken! Recently, I haven't been sleeping AT ALL either. One friend told me she would always be there for me if I wanted to talk...as long as it was between the hours of 8am and 9pm. Okay, I get it. But then another friend told me she would always be there for me 24/7, and she has been. And it makes a world of difference. :)

CoCo's Journey - Mortality Reality

This week has been one for the books.  There has been some good things, not so good things and more.  I will explain. Last Saturday, my daughter and I drove to Idaho Falls.  We went to visit my bonus daughter and her family.  I wasn't feeling great.  But I wasn't feeling horrible.  By the time I got home, I had a lot of swelling.  I have been dealing with that for a few months.  I had started to see a specialist about my liver and my pancreas.  I had recently started a medication, it is a very pricey medication, but it's supposed to help me break down calories and nutrients so that my body absorbs them.  Even though I eat, my body was just shedding the nutrients and food I was eating and making it so I was not gaining weight.  I was 95 pounds.  And nothing I did would gain weight.  But I've gained 20 pounds over the last few months.  My clothes were uncomfortable.  But, I don't know if it's just the water retenti...

CoCo's Journey - TPN Me!!

I just decided to do another post after spending my first night in my own bed with my new sexy bed partner.  TPN. TPN - Total Parenteral Nutrition.  Calories, vitamins, minerals and all that delivered through an intravenous line. PICC line -  A little stronger and more durable than a regular IV line.  It's inserted, via ultrasound, into a vein.  Mine is in my upper right arm.   IV Pump - an electrical system that pumps the IV fluid from my bag into my veins.   In essence, I have an IV bag, when first attached to my PICC line, it probably weighs 15 to 20 pounds.  It is kept in a backpack, so I can be mobile.  I have the pump plugged in, to keep it charged, when I'm not mobile and trying to get my home back in order after being gone for five days in the hospital. Me and my sexy new bed partner.  I know, I'm gorgeous.  Skinnier than a prepubescent 12-year-old boy and a mess.  Don't judge.  I'm working on it!! ...

CoCo's Journey - How Did I Get Here??

Malabsorption - definition - Malabsorption is a state arising from abnormality of food nutrients across the gastrointestinal tract.  Impairment can be single or multiple nutrients depending on the abnormality.  This may lead to malnutrition and a variety of anaemias (blood disorders). I have heard the term before.  But the first time I had heard it in response to me was a little over a week ago.  I was with my roommate daughter at her appointment and her doctor pointed to IVY and said, what's up with that??  So I told him.  And he said, people have no idea how hard it is when you have malabsorption.  People think you can just eat to make it better, but you can't. So let's go to the beginning.... If you have known me at all in the last few decades, you know that I was "morbidly obese".  I topped out at 245 pounds.  I had Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid disease and stomach issues (gerd) for the last couple of decades and had taken...
