Another Weight Battle Story

So - I've made it known that I'm doing Weight Watchers.  It's the fourth time I've started this.  I'm kind of plateauing and it's frustrating.  But, I'm really not plateauing, I'm just not making the best choices all the time.  Last week I gained .6 pound.  This week, I lost one pound - but when you take into consideration that .6 of that is weight I've gained, that means I really only lost .4. This week for example - I wasn't really great at the beginning of the week.  Not always eating the best things.  Then I kicked myself in the butt, and said I needed to do better and I needed to track and journal my food intake.  I've been watching my scale really closely and honestly thought I was going to get that second number on it to change this week.  Then last night was a particularly difficult work night, I didn't drink as much water as I should have.  This morning, I  could tell that I was retaining water.  The biggest clue to that was

Getting Control of My Life

OK - I know, I know, I know.  I do this a lot.  But, for some reason, this time feels completely different. I have struggled with my weight for years.  It seems like when KayeLynn was three years old and diagnosed with leukemia, I lost all control of my own self and started to gain weight.  I was never good with diet, I never had to be as a child and a young woman.  I could eat an entire pizza and nothing phased me.  Well, growing up, having children, living life - things change.  Honestly, I had no idea how to change it.  I never had to watch what I ate - and I didn't.  Plain and simple.  I raised my kids on fast food, fattening food, "what's for dessert" and not a lot of activity. A couple years after George died, I decided I was going to get control of my life.  I joined Weight Watchers.  I had a lot of success with it.  With some ups and downs.  I lost around fifty pounds and I kept it off.  Kept it off for almost two years.  But - alas - life gets in the way.

Honeymoon Take Twelve

Ted and I have always deemed something we do as our annual honeymoon.  Some times, we go somewhere huge.  We've done Paris, Cancun and Honolulu before.  We've also done Wendover a couple of times or just got a hotel downtown and had dinner. Inside the huge Redwood Tree This year, we had a weekend and we did northern California and southern Oregon.   Of course, we needed to adjust our plans and do a plan B.  Our original plan was to fly into Medford, Oregon, spend the night and drive through to Crescent City, California.   The flight to Medford really got tight and we were thinking we would have to go on Saturday - and that would kill some of our travel time.  But, I started looking and found that we could get into Eugene, Oregon with little problem and the Sunday flight going home looked really good, too.  So that is what we did.  The problem was, that meant we had to arrive in Eugene around 11:00 p.m. and then drive for three hours to get to Medford, where our hotel was
