Niagra Falls, Ontario

In my job, I have had the opportunity to go to some amazing places and to see some amazing things.  The last couple of years, because of my involvement in our computer system, I have been able to go to the conference that the computer company sponsors.  Their company mostly is in Canada and the US and they rotate every year where they have it.  This year, it was in Niagra Falls, Ontario, Canada.  Last year when they announced they were having this years conference there, I was melting - what a dream!!!  I never thought I would get to go again this year.  I truly do appreciate that I got this opportunity. In Cancun on the boat Now, a little background on my little stowaway.  Roxann, one of my very bestest friends (whom I will miss every day now that she retired), arranged to have the little guy kidnapped (not that I don't know exactly how it was done).  You see, he belongs to our interim Executive Director. Scott.  Roxann took him to Cancun with her and took pictures and poste

Opposites Attract

I am married to my complete polar opposite.  We are just two completely different people. The one thing about him that is so very different is that he is a very big Sci-Fi nerd.  He loves anything to do with science fiction.  Every apocolyptic show that has started in the last several years, he has become a fan of; Jericho, Flash Forward. Now comes Revolution.  Tonight was the first episode.  Guess what - he's glued again.  And, like every other time, he has me sitting here watching it, too.  DAMN!!!!!

Treasures Sought and Treasures Found

If you pay attention to this blog, you know that my father-in-law passed away a few weeks ago.  Ted has driven back and forth to see his mother and deal with taking care of estate details since that time.  Today is the fourth time he has made the five hour journey to visit - this time I was able to accompany him. I absolutely adore my mother-in-law.  She is a very humorous and intelligent woman.  I love to spend time with her. My in-laws are "collectors".  They collect all sorts of things; camera equipment, books, stamps, among several other things.  Today, we were going through the collection of coins; foreign coins, domestic coins, tokens and stuff like that. Not a fortune to be had, but it was fun to go through the small collection.  There were silver dollars, half dollars, quarters, nickles, dimes, pennies; some of them silver - some of them not; some of them nickle, some of them not; some of them copper, some of them not.  In fact, she had a handful of "wheat pe

I was looking at my blog and noticed I have a new follower.  That was very exciting to me!!  Hello Elizabeth Fernandez, with whom I do not know.  I am sure you just stumbled upon me accidentally - but, as long as you are following me - I shall tip my hat and bid you welcome. The reason I mention Ms. Elizabeth is that when I clicked on her profile, I noticed that she was following not just my little Coco's Corner - but that she was following another one, CoCo's Corner.  This was rather awesome to me - to realize that I had a soul sister somewhere across the country, living in New York City.  She's not a real active blogger anymore - but I just happened to click on her blog to see what she is made of. I know this isn't exciting to most people - but, to me it's kind of thrilling to know there is another little haven like mine.  We are two extremely different women - I am a pudgy grandmother (a very young one) who just loves to throw things out there and make fun of

Things That Make You Go HMMMMM - #11

I spent the last couple of days in Wendover getting some rest and relaxation with my BFF.  Now, how that is relaxing, I surely don't know - because we got there Sunday around 1:30 in the afternoon.  We didn't even take our luggage to our room until about 10:00 that night and then we were playing until 2:00 in the morning. Sunday was a really goooood winning day.  Monday - not so good.  I can say I brought home a few dollars to live on until payday. For those of you who may read this post and don't know what Wendover is; it's a very small community that is split between Utah and Nevada - about a ninety minute drive from our homes in the Salt Lake Valley.  There is an accumulation of casinos on the Nevada side and it's a little haven that Utahns go to to freely give up their money to the one-armed bandits, blackjack/poker dealers and roulette wheel/crap table operators.  However, this is not why I go HMMMMM. I was driving Ms. Elaine home and we were on I-215.  At ab

Things That Make You Go HMMMM - #9

Ted has been involved in Civil Air Patrol since the terrorist attacks in 2001.  It was his way of giving back.  He has worked his way up and has worked very hard there.   He was Director of Communications for the State of Utah for several years and received many accolades and awards for his hard work.  AND, I can assure you he has definitely put in a lot of work, all volunteer and unpaid, for it is something he truly believes in. The last couple of years, there has been a decline in his motivation for being there.  Where he used to enjoy his time there - he no longer does so much.  It's not the same place as when I first met him - the participation is down, the unhappiness is up.  But, he continues to go every week - unless something else precludes him from doing so.  I truly hope it gets better soon - because I know it's something that he enjoys. Difficult to see his name - but it's top center. Tonight he went.  He happened to notice something out of the corner o
