Crystal

I have amazing kids. I know I talk about it all the time. But, I really do have the greatest kids in the world. I love them so much. Today, I'm reminded of what an outstanding human my daughter Crystal is. She amazes me every day. She is probably one of the most giving people I have ever seen. She is a great mother, daughter, friend. A great all around person. A little over a year ago, her very good friend Sarah was in an accident with her two children. The night it happened, Brandon took Sarah's husband up to Ogden to be by his wife's side (Brandon is another example of a great human). The two kids were up there, too. They were transporting the baby, Lucian (just about six weeks old at the time), to Primary Children's, he had a slight brain injury. We took KayeLynn to sit with Zach and Chelsea. Crystal and I went to sit with the baby at the hospital. For the next eight days, Crystal took care of Lucian and Ezri in her home, while Jim sat with Sarah at the

I'm so excited!!!

I was so pleasantly surprised this morning when I got out of bed to find an e-mail from the sweepstakes coordinator for my trip. She sent me the itinerary, flight and hotel information for my trip to Paris. Then she called me a little later to ask a couple of questions. Three and a half months - it's crazy!!! We leave on May 12 at 5:00 in the evening and arrive May 13 at 11:45. Our hotel is walking distance to the Eiffel Tower in Paris. We are there for three nights. Then we are taking a train to Bordeaux, France. It where some of the finest wines are made. They offered to fly us - but we wanted to take the train and see more of France. The hotel we are staying at there looks absolutely fantastic. The picture attached is of the rooms at the hotel. This is the trip of a lifetime!! And everyday I try to win more and more and more trips of a lifetime!! It may be a crazy hobby, but it's kinda fun - - and just today I won a Lacie thong from Victoria Secrets (has anyone

INSOMNIA!!

I'm up in the middle of the night. For some reason (probably age and hormonal changes, i.e. menopause) this is not uncommon for me. Usually in the winter, I sleep ok - because I'm married to igloo man and we have the window open whether it's 50 degrees or -5. Although I tease him about trying to freeze me to death, I actually sleep pretty good when it's cold outside. For some reason tonight, though, I'm awake and it's 2:00 in the morning. I tend to have to get out of bed when I start thinking or worrying about something. It's not normal stuff that I worry about, either. When Zach was about 18 months old, I woke up in the middle of the night once and started worrying that a mountain lion would come into Crystal and Brandon's backyard and attack him. It's not like they live in the mountains, at all, they live in Millcreek!! But, I laid there terrified worrying about it and had to get up. When I'm fretting about something, it usually invol

Stupid blog!!!

I feel really stupid. I keep looking at all these cutest blogs and I can't figure out how to make my blog cute. I want it to have all these adorable things. I've tried to change the background and it doesn't do it. What is the matter with me?!?!?!? I WANT A CUTE BLOG!!!

Grandbabies!!!

My kiddos came and spent the evening with me. This is them playing the Buckaroo game. All they wanted to do was make him buck - not really play. It was still fun.

WORK!!!

I love my job. Usually. For some reason today, I felt like I was sleeping on the edge of a precipice and rolling the wrong way. Today was my short day - I love my short day, but I went in four hours early to work overtime. I was kind of tired this morning - because my body knows that on day four I get to sleep in. My 6:00 lineup started it off (it's what I call my menopause group - cuz they are all the ladies with huge seniority so they get the good days off). It just seemed like they were doing everything they could to push every button I had. I lost control of that lineup withing a minute and a half. I have a standing rule, no discussion of politics or religion in lineup - my opinion is that they are both inflammatory subjects that can get people's defenses up. One of my menopausers couldn't get "change the subject" through her head when she started talking about a political issue. It went like this all day. There are times I feel so ineffective. The

Take Me Away!!!

I love to travel. I don't care where I go, I just love to go. Whether it's somewhere in the state or far, far away (like Paris), I love to go. I love to fly, I love to drive. I would go by car, by boat, by bike (maybe not), by plane. I just want to go somewhere. Even if it's staying in a hotel five miles from home, it means I've gone somewhere. Since being with Ted, I've got to go places with him. Maybe not as much as he's done before, but we've got to do a few things. We got to go to Cactus Pete's, a casino in Jackpot, Nevada - a little, bitty, not really a town town south of Twin Falls, Idaho several times. Wendover, Nevada. My VERY favorite work trip was New York City. Oh my gosh, how I would love to go there again!! It was the most marvelous thing to do. The reason I really brought this up, one of Ted's customers is in Springdale. It's a small town outside of Zion National Park. We ended up there last night. It was dark by the

My boy's leaving me - again!!

I am so proud of all my kids!! I know I don't brag enough about them (cough cough), but I am so amazed and proud of each of them. My son, James Rodger Farnworth II, was born last - which gave him a double whammy. Not only was he the youngest, but he was the only boy. When his dad died, he was left alone to deal with all the women!! He's not only survived, but he's flourished into an amazing, sensitive, strong man. He was named after his dad's brother, who died when his dad was very young. While in high school, Jaja (as he is called by his family), became very involved in stage crew. He has a passion for the behind the scenes theatre. Whenever we go to a show, he's never been one to watch what is going on up on the stage - he's looking at the lights, he's looking at the scenes, he's listening to the sound - but, especially he's watching the lights. He gets all excited when they are amazing, state-of-the-art lights (and he can tell you what th

Resolutions

I'm following my muffie Trynitee's example and putting my resolutions down in order to make myself a little more accountable. #1 - I need to resolve to appreciate Ted more. He is so very good to me and sometimes I don't appreciate it as much as I should. I love him so very much. And when his geekiness gets out of control or when he comes home with twenty of one item from the damaged freight store and we probably don't even need one - I need to calm myself and just let it roll. He's just being Ted - the guy I love. #2 - I need to keep working on the weight. I had lost 27 pounds prior to the holiday. I've gained about four back since going off my diet. I am going back on the diet here in a couple of weeks and need to work harder on maintaining. The excuse that it's "rough during the holidays" can't cut it anymore. It's gotta become a way of life. #3 - I need to be more organized and get some more projects done. I need to start deci

New Years

I had the best New Years holiday!! Last night, Crystal, Brandon, Zach and Chelsea came for dinner. Rodger's friend, Collin, is in town and came over, too. Collin is in the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland right now and came into town on Christmas day. My mother came over, too. Unfortunately, KayeLynn had to work last night. Anyway, we had dinner and played games last night. Zach and Chelsea kept us busy, too. We were pretty dang tired by the time KayeLynn got home around 1:30 in the morning (she should have been home to ring in the New Year with us, but someone didn't show up for work and she had to hang around there for someone else to come in). Brandon, Crystal, Zach and Chelsea passed out on the couches (Crystal wishes she would have taken us up on filling up the air mattress - cuz her neck was kinda kinked and miserable this morning!). Collin passed out on the futon upstairs. We woke up this morning for breakfast/brunch. We made breakfast burritos. Then we a
