New Years


I had the best New Years holiday!! Last night, Crystal, Brandon, Zach and Chelsea came for dinner. Rodger's friend, Collin, is in town and came over, too. Collin is in the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland right now and came into town on Christmas day. My mother came over, too. Unfortunately, KayeLynn had to work last night. Anyway, we had dinner and played games last night. Zach and Chelsea kept us busy, too. We were pretty dang tired by the time KayeLynn got home around 1:30 in the morning (she should have been home to ring in the New Year with us, but someone didn't show up for work and she had to hang around there for someone else to come in). Brandon, Crystal, Zach and Chelsea passed out on the couches (Crystal wishes she would have taken us up on filling up the air mattress - cuz her neck was kinda kinked and miserable this morning!). Collin passed out on the futon upstairs.

We woke up this morning for breakfast/brunch. We made breakfast burritos. Then we all made plans to meet at the dollar movie theatre in Sugarhouse. You see, because of Ted, we kind of have a new New Years tradition in our family. We go to the dollar theatre and watch as many movies as we can fit in the day. This was something he had done with DeeDee and her friends a few different times and so we kind of took it to a different level by making it a New Years tradition. I love that Ted has brought a new and different perspective to our lives. Things like this would never have even been considered before him. KayeLynn took today off so she could spend the day with us. She hasn't got to do this with us - she may get to one movie, but then have to go to work. So it was great that she got to play with us today. Brandon and Crystal usually would come with us to one movie, but would need to take the kids home. Anyway, we started out by going to see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Cute movie!! We went to get pizza at Pier 49 - we were kinda spoiled, cuz my sister-in-law works there and her sister owns the joint - they let us come in and have free pizza!! SWEET!! KayeLynn didn't feel well after eating, so she went to Brandon and Crystal's and took a nap and came back for the last movie. We split up for the next movie - the boys went to see Zombieland and Crystal and I took the kids to see Astro Boy. Crystal and I didn't enjoy it as much - but Zachary loved it. I guess that's what matters most is that he liked it. Brandon took the kids home after that so Crystal could go see the last movie with us. We went to see 500 Days of Summer. Crystal says it's her new favorite movie. It was such a different movie - but, I love when I get to see that sensitive side of Ted. I'm not sure how he felt about it - he made a statement about his dating life while being single for 16 years before we got married. The movie really does have a great message about finding the right person.

I love spending time with my family and I got to do that for two days straight. They are so important to me. And now having Ted be a part of this family brings such new and wonderful things. He is so good to my kids. They truly are his kids, too. There are many things I hope for in this next year, Ted getting a new job is one of them; however, if I can have more days like I've had over this last couple, I will truly be happy!!

I am exhausted.  Physically.  Mentally.  Is there anything else??  Because I'm sure that is exhausted, too. I went to the doctor today.  I knew it was going to be a lot of information.  I had made a list.  I had my notebook.  I printed out all of the information from my emergency room visit on Saturday to take with me.  Blood tests.  CT Scan.  Urine test.  Plus, I brought my CT scan from March, because I noticed on it that I have a small umbilical hernia.  I was ready.  And I knew what I needed to fight for. I also came armed with gifts.  I love this doctor and his medical assistant so much.  I took them a gift of tortilla chips and homemade salsa.  And I wrote a love note on the bag.  That is how much I appreciate him.  They both loved it.  It even made Hayley get a little weepy, cuz she was having a bad day. CoCo's Journey - Purpura?? What is that??

 Defnition: Purpura - noun - the appearance of purple or red spots on the skin and mucous membranes caused by bleeding underneath the skin due to small blood vessels bursting.  These spots can range in size from small dots (petechiae) to larger patches (ecchymosis or bruises) and may indicate underlying health issues.   Sadly, when people see my arms, I get many responses and questions.   From how are you doing?  How are you feeling?  OR what is up with your arms???  My BFF literally said, what the hell is wrong with your arms?? Like I had been out in the parking lot bruising myself up intentionally.  And we had just talked about it a couple of weeks before when she saw it. Are they pretty??  No.  But, they truly are the way I know the status of my health.  Between seeing this stuff show up on my arms and my overall general state of strength lets me know if I should be concerned.   Right now, my arms are actually look...

CoCo's Journey - Up Your Nose with a Rubber Hose

Sun wasn't even up when I headed to the hospital Today, I had my first albumin infusion.  I have it at the Cancer Center.  It lasts about four hours.  They get an IV started and slowly infuse the albumin.  Today, I learned a lot: Don't take your own snacks.  They have great snacks and beverages.  And you don't have to haul all that stuff. Four hours, sitting in a little curtained room, is really not bad.  I snoozed, I snacked, I watched TV, I played on my phone. Make sure you take your power pack. If they ask you if you want a heated blanket, the answer is always YES.  I had three by the time I left.  I told the adorable CNA fella that I planned to just look like a pile of blankets by the time I was ready to leave.
