We Laid Her To Rest Today

We laid her to rest today. And it was beautiful. We laid her to rest today. And I know she felt the love. We laid her to rest today. And I know she was smiling. We laid her to rest today. And I know she was happy. We laid her to rest today. And I know she was there. We laid her to rest today. And she heard every word. We laid her to rest today. And everyone will miss her We laid her to rest today. And we know she is free. We laid her to rest today. And they are together again. We laid her to rest today. I probably talked too much.   Her casket was beautiful.  She had angels on the corners Being taken to her final resting place beside my daddy With my brother and sisters And with the spouses I know no one as lucky as me when these babies came into my life  I love this guy to the moon and back Her service was absolutely beautiful.  I'm sure she was smiling as she heard the words that were spoken and the bea...

Angels In The Room

I'm starting this post on January 11, 2017.  I will post it when my mother passes away.  I want to keep a running log on what is going on with her while she goes through her death process. Saturday - January 7:  KayeLynn (my daughter who is living with and caring for my mother) says my mother is busy talking to someone while in her room, alone.  Shortly after, she gets up and is heading to the living room area, talking to someone as she does it.  When my daughter hears this, she gets up to find my mother has left her walker in the middle of the floor and is frantic to find the phone  When my daughter gets her attention my mother says that she needed to find the phone, because "that woman" told me you passed away - meaning that my daughter KayeLynn had passed away - and that she needed to call  me and tell me.  This is our first experience and it's a little odd and strange. Sunday - January 8:  KayeLynn says she was talking again, alon...

On a Journey

I FINALLY lost another six pounds.  It's been a slow journey.  The last time I got a five pound star was November 14.  Now I'm at 36 pounds down.  That has been a ten month journey.  I'm not losing fast, but I'm losing.  Slow, surely, slowly and sometimes even more slowly than that.  But, I'm losing. Today, Ted and I had to go sign some papers to refinance our house.  Taking seven years off our loan!!  WOOT. Anyway, I put a pair of jeans on and they were really, really big!!  So I told Ted, these jeans are going in the bag when I get home. So  - when I got home, I decided it was time to do some purging!! That's a big pile of clothes All bagged up!! I went through my closet to get rid of anything that was too large.  I don't intend on going back to my large size, so I decided it was time to get them out of my closet.  Anything that was too large was thrown out.  Including a beautiful jacket that I got three...

Getting Healthy, Losing Weight and Humiliation

I've made no secret that I'm doing Weight Watchers.  I started at the end of April.  At this point, I am down just under 34 pounds.  Yesterday, I had the greatest experience hitting a milestone I have not really seen in ten years.  I actually had a sit down and told Ted about my loss, where I started and where I am now.  I started crying and it caused him to get all weepy with me.  I am extremely proud of my accomplishment. I have not been moving as much as I would like to do.  I was doing great, walking and moving before fall hit - and then I pretty much stopped.  So - yesterday at my meeting, we had to set a goal for January, February and March.  My goal was to get down at least eight more pounds.  And to either go to the fitness center or walk at least twice a week.  I know that doesn't sound like much, but I get a lot of steps on the days that I work.  So - I figured if I set a goal of two days a week, it was something ...

Fall Trip - San Francisco

Ted and I had planned to go to Orlando this last weekend.  A little guy named Matthew changed our destination.  One of the bucket list places for me has always been San Francisco.  We left Friday night and got home Sunday evening.  We really only did one day of heavy sight seeing - because we decided to head to the airport early Sunday because the flights got really tight. One thing you need to know - I do not do anything spontaneously.  I usually plan everything out about what I want to do.  And Ted is good enough that he just let's me be me. This weekend was different.  There were no real plans.  Ted used to live in Sacramento - and he traveled to the Bay area every week to work - so he had a list of places that we wanted to go see. So Saturday morning after breakfast, we just started driving.  We drove a bit and ended up in the Wharf area.  Parking was really expensive where we parked - $3 for every fifteen minute with a $45 maxim...

The Garden Experiment

Back in my younger years, I would plant a garden ever year.  I planted so many things - tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, peas, green beans, carrots, peppers, beets - every year.  But, back then, I had the best of mentors.  My Dad would come practically every year and till up my garden.  He even brought me manure a few times, when he had extra to fertilize my garden. I usually had a beautiful garden.  I would get so much stuff from it!  I canned tomatoes, salsa and chili sauce every year.  I canned beets every year. I canned green beans.  And we would eat and eat and eat what we sowed.  I kept it up for a few years after my dad died.  But not many.  Then George died.  I never planted a garden again.  It's been fifteen to twenty years since I last had a garden.  I sold my house.  I moved into a condo - oh how I loved my condo.  Then I met this guy, married him and sold my condo.  This guy - with whom I lo...

Annual Date With Color - 2016

Road trip!!!  Ted and I try and go places to see the fall colors.  The last two years, we've gone out of state to do it - 2014 we went to Portland, Oregon and 2015 we went to Rapid City, South Dakota.  This year, we stayed local.  We went on the Mirror Lake Scenic Drive and up to Evanston, then back on I-80 home.  Just want to share some photos to journal our journey.  I worked this morning - and it was a pretty rough morning - and as soon as I got home, I changed my clothes and off we went.  Here are our photos. On our way up I-80 Rockport Lake Rockport Lake - the tower sticking up there is an Osprey nest tower.  They built several of these towers for Osprey Ted was so excited by this - he had to turn around and go back for a picture.  You'll appreciate it if you are a Dr. Who fan I forgot to get my SD card for my camera. We had to stop and get one at the ACE Hardware store in Kamas. So - this was our test selfi...
