I Promise - I'm NOT Losing Interest

I just noticed that it's been over a month since I've posted anything; that means no thoughts, no sarcasm, no inane ramblings, no overbearing impulses. I've been trying to tame some aspects of my life. Trying to not overeat. Trying to make myself move around more. But, I'm also dealing with some things at work that I thought I was ready to deal with - but, I am quickly learning I may be a bit over my head. I am hoping, though, that I am just selling myself a little bit short. I am very excited over new developments at work. I have been given the assignment of handling a large portion of the training in the office. This is a HUGE assignment, because we are melding two offices into one and will have to train both offices in handling the duties of both sides. This is huge and I every day when I go to work, I feel like I have so much to do and I never know if I am doing the right thing at the right time. I have a great support system; great boss, great peers,...

I'm back!!! To work that is!!

I am back to work after a nice several days off. I stuffed a lot into those days off and I had an awesome time off!! I know it thrills you, because my inane ramblings are so very exciting. My entire life is so very exciting that you can't help but be enraptured by the very thought of hearing everything I did on my summer vacation!!! Tell me it isn't true!! Just go ahead and tell me!!! July 14: Well, since my son is no longer working for Lagoon and getting me those once a month awesome deals, we went to Lagoon on my work day. We had a lot of fun. Ted worked and showed up in time for dinner. We took the kids on lots of rides. Because Zach and Chelsea are getting bigger, their experiences are getting bigger, too. They went on Bombora and have since decided it is their very favorite. Crystal also took Zach on the Zipper. He liked it, but only wanted to go once. They also went on the Jet Star. I have to say a BIG thank you to Rustie and Raja - they took the kids on ...

What - it's been a year already?? Since I said HAPPY BIRTHDAY CRYSTAL!!

I have this awesome daughter. Her name is Crystal. She was sent to me thirty years ago today. She is sweet. She is loving. She is pretty. She is adorable. She is amazing. She is awesome. She is giving. She is skinny. She is stubborn. She is smart. She is savvy. She is gorgeous. She is intelligent. She is wonderful. I have said several times in the past, it's going to be harder for me when she turns 30 than when I turn 50. Well, she just turned 30 and I have to say it's not as bad I was figuring. I was expecting to spend the last week and a half in bed, covers over my head, chanting over and over again how I was suddenly old. I thought briefly about just letting my hair go gray to show how old I really am. Go out and buy some granny panties and some old lady clothes. But, I don't have to do that. Which, I have to say, I am really happy about. I don't think I'm ready for gray hair, granny panties and dementia yet. Have eight months to confron...

Watermelon and Laxatives

Well, I have told y'all how I am trying to lose weight, get healthy, whatever. I go up and I go down - - mostly I go nowhere. I usually know I need to work hard again when I put my uniform pants on and can barely breathe. These pants are cut an odd way, where they cut no in the waistband, but a little below. I feel it the most when I am driving to and from work. The way I sit in the car, it feels like I am being cut in two. Well, I felt this way a couple of weeks ago, so I had this awesome idea. Back when I lost a lot of weight, in 2003, when I started feeling a little bloated, I would take a laxative or two. That would clean out the old colon, get rid of some bloat and I would lose a couple of pounds or three. So, I decided that I would use my old trick - a little bulimic, I know - but, I figured it would jump start my uniform pants to feeling a little better. Well, let us just say it worked pretty dang good. I woke up around 2:00 in the morning, in the most debilitat...

What a DAY!! or two!!!

This story starts out yesterday morning. I had my "routine preventative office visit" at my doctor. First thing, the medical assistant take my blood pressure and it was like 145 over 92. I said, uh uh - no way. So she takes it again - took it down to 138 over 86. The last thing in the world I need is for my doctor to say I have high blood pressure - so I was glad it got down a bit the second time. When he comes in, we start the discussion with anything going on with you - any problems. I tell him the usual, back hurts, shoulders hurt, neck hurts. I also tell him that I think I am starting menopause and he says he was gonna ask, after all - I will be FIFTY soon. He asks what symptoms I have - I list a couple; dry skin, lack of libido, insomnia. He says there are hormone pills and there are sleeping pills - but I really am not interested in more chemicals entering my body and doing who knows what, especially hormones. So, he suggests soy powder or any other soy produ...

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance. As Ted was telling KayeLynn and I earlier today, it was a day set aside to remember the fallen soldiers, to remember the lives they lost. It evolved into a day to remember all those who have passed before us. Those we loved - those we lost. Being a baby boomer, there are a few people that have left me behind. I've lost aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, acquaintances, in-laws. The most significant being a husband and my dad. Now, my dad, he was a rather awesome kind of man. He was a World War II veteran. He went to war in the Pacific. It was not something he really ever talked about. We don't know really anything that he faced, anything he saw, anything he did while fighting in the South Pacific. He came back home, to southern Utah and shortly afterward met my mom at a dance. My gosh, you should have seen the two of them dance - it was amazing!! I think I only saw it once at a wedding, but, holy cow!! They had moved from he...

Um - and then there was Ted...

OK - I don't really have an embarrassing story about Ted. OMG - I just lied!!! I do, I do!!! A couple of years ago, we traveled to Orlando, Florida by way of Decatur, Alabama to go to Ted's brother Mike's wedding. The couple's story was very interesting to begin with (she asked him to be a sperm donor so she could have a baby - they were friends before that - he agreed - they had a baby together - when their son Max was about four, they realized they were in love - they got married). Anyway, we went to Orlando for the wedding. It was the first time I got to see the Catholic in my husband - and I have to say, it made me love him even more to see that (I've seen it a couple of times since). So the only other sibling there, besides the two brothers, was Ted's sister Susan. Ted's family lives all over the country and it's difficult for them to get together like that. I have not even met all of them. So, we are at the wedding. Very beautiful we...
