A Night with the Kiddos

This post is dedicated to all the funny things Zach and Chelsea had to say while spending the night with me.  Mom and Dad had gone to a concert and so they spent the night with me.  Ted was in Colorado - so it was just the three of us: I bought them each a little something because the had kind of outgrown the toys that we have at the house: Me:  I got you each a prize. Zach:  Please DON'T let it be socks. Chelsea had been drawing a picture.  She came to show it to me.  She had made a bunch of people. Me:  Who are all of these people? Chelsea - goes through and names tell me who they are, her and me and some others:  and this one is Papa, because this one is bald. Chelsea gets into the freezer and comes out with Cool Whip - "can I eat this?  I won't eat it in your bed."  So I get her a juice bar instead, she chooses lime - and decides she is going to call it lemon.  "If I want another one, can I have another one?  If I...

Things That Make You Go HMMMMM - - #15

I love Facebook.  It's quite the insight to a lot of things.  It brings people together.  It let's you know who the whack jobs are.  It brings you back to people you haven't seen nor heard from in a very long time - I connected with the girl who used to live next door to me - we grew up together until we were about 11 years old and then when she moved away, we really never saw each other much after that.  I've got cousins as friends, my sisters, my sister in law, friends,Teds brothers and sisters, work friends, sweepstakes friends, school friends, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, a grandson and of course my kids and their spouses!!    Let me just add here the friends I have made from gaining a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law, by becoming lifelong friends with their parents. Right now, it makes me a bit insane - because the political crap that is posted CONSTANTLY just gets on my nerves.  I don't even care what side it's coming fr...

Things That Make You Go HMMMM - - #13 and #14

I went to the hospital to catch up with my mom today.  She had an appointment with her cardiologist and I thought she was going to be by herself.  Because I am the world's greatest worrier, I took off from work and met up with her.  I had to park forever away.  There is a bit of a hill to the entrance and I was following a woman, probably in her early 60's, that was walking kind of slow.  It didn't bother me, I just followed her.  There was a woman following me.  So - it was three women all together - 1, 2, 3.  This gentleman got to the outer door first and was trying to open it for all of us - but, he kind of got on the wrong side and was trying to open it.  The woman in front of me told him to just go ahead.  So, he went ahead and ambled to the inner door and was opening that.  She tells him to go ahead.  And he just kind of stood there and then she yells at him, a complete stranger, who was doing something out of the kindnes...

Niagra Falls, Ontario

In my job, I have had the opportunity to go to some amazing places and to see some amazing things.  The last couple of years, because of my involvement in our computer system, I have been able to go to the conference that the computer company sponsors.  Their company mostly is in Canada and the US and they rotate every year where they have it.  This year, it was in Niagra Falls, Ontario, Canada.  Last year when they announced they were having this years conference there, I was melting - what a dream!!!  I never thought I would get to go again this year.  I truly do appreciate that I got this opportunity. In Cancun on the boat Now, a little background on my little stowaway.  Roxann, one of my very bestest friends (whom I will miss every day now that she retired), arranged to have the little guy kidnapped (not that I don't know exactly how it was done).  You see, he belongs to our interim Executive Director. Scott.  Roxann took him to Can...

Opposites Attract

I am married to my complete polar opposite.  We are just two completely different people. The one thing about him that is so very different is that he is a very big Sci-Fi nerd.  He loves anything to do with science fiction.  Every apocolyptic show that has started in the last several years, he has become a fan of; Jericho, Flash Forward. Now comes Revolution.  Tonight was the first episode.  Guess what - he's glued again.  And, like every other time, he has me sitting here watching it, too.  DAMN!!!!!

Treasures Sought and Treasures Found

If you pay attention to this blog, you know that my father-in-law passed away a few weeks ago.  Ted has driven back and forth to see his mother and deal with taking care of estate details since that time.  Today is the fourth time he has made the five hour journey to visit - this time I was able to accompany him. I absolutely adore my mother-in-law.  She is a very humorous and intelligent woman.  I love to spend time with her. My in-laws are "collectors".  They collect all sorts of things; camera equipment, books, stamps, among several other things.  Today, we were going through the collection of coins; foreign coins, domestic coins, tokens and stuff like that. Not a fortune to be had, but it was fun to go through the small collection.  There were silver dollars, half dollars, quarters, nickles, dimes, pennies; some of them silver - some of them not; some of them nickle, some of them not; some of them copper, some of them not.  In fact, she ha...

Things That Make You Go HMMMM - - #12

I was looking at my blog and noticed I have a new follower.  That was very exciting to me!!  Hello Elizabeth Fernandez, with whom I do not know.  I am sure you just stumbled upon me accidentally - but, as long as you are following me - I shall tip my hat and bid you welcome. The reason I mention Ms. Elizabeth is that when I clicked on her profile, I noticed that she was following not just my little Coco's Corner - but that she was following another one, CoCo's Corner.  This was rather awesome to me - to realize that I had a soul sister somewhere across the country, living in New York City.  She's not a real active blogger anymore - but I just happened to click on her blog to see what she is made of. I know this isn't exciting to most people - but, to me it's kind of thrilling to know there is another little haven like mine.  We are two extremely different women - I am a pudgy grandmother (a very young one) who just loves to throw things out there and ma...
